About Noito

In 2013, she moved to Kumano, Wakayama Prefecture, where she and her family raise sheep, spin yarn, and weave and knit goods.

In 2023, we received support from the "What a waste! We want to utilize unused Japanese wool" project, and we are now washing the wool we collect domestically in our home workshop and sending it to a spinning factory.

We started selling yarn made from 100% domestic wool from November 2024.

Currently, Japan relies on imports for most of its wool materials and products.

The wool of about 20,000 sheep living in Japan has gone unused. There used to be many wool-washing factories in Japan, but they have all been closed down due to environmental pollution concerns. As a result, the wool can no longer be used and is discarded.

Sheepskin thread is washed with only hot water to prevent water pollution caused by waste liquid.

We aim to maximize the potential of wool and create a world where handcrafts can be enjoyed.

Thank you for your continued cooperation!
